A sinister Venetian mirror serves as a portal for its long-dead mistress, weeping skulls lock in a lipless kiss, a loyal canine follows his gentle owner beyond the grave—this is the otherworldly realm of Spectral Haunts and Phantom Lovers. Here you will find a collection of eight supernatural tales set amongst the small villages and market towns of 1920s England. Each of them shares a passion fervent enough to reach across the invisible barriers separating the living from the dead. You are cordially and cautiously invited to experience this funereal bouquet of ghostly encounters read by renowned actress Louise Jameson (Dr. Who, Tenko, EastEnders). This exclusive recording is graced with an original haunting theme by distinguished French film composer Philippe d’Aram (Les héroïnes du mal, Fascination, La morte vivante) and cover-art designed by acclaimed artist Scot D. Ryersson.

Visit the official Spectral Haunts and Phantom Lovers site for more information.

About The Composer

Since the late 1970s, French film composer Philippe d’Aram has provided music for short and feature films, television series and documentaries, radio and multimedia formats. As for the otherworldly theme to Spectral Haunts and Phantom Lovers, he most certainly achieved the goal of creating, in his own words, “a somber atmosphere with hope.” While d’Aram has scored the works of such directors as André Cayatte, François Dupeyron and Claude Zidi, he is perhaps best known internationally for collaborations with European cult directors. These include Walerian Borowczyk for Les héroïnes du mal and Jean Rollin for whom he scored several films, including Fascination and La morte vivante. Among numerous events, d’Aram composed the official music for the 1992 XVI Olympic Winter Games at Albertville. In addition to organizing conferences to raise awareness of the importance of music in the cinema, d’Aram has taught film scoring at such institutions as L’université Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée, EFET (Paris), and Institut national de l’audiovisuel (Bry-sur-Marne). Commercial clients include Nina Ricci, Pernod-Ricard, IBM, Kodak and Dassault.

DOWNLOADING INFORMATION

Our audiobooks download as zipped files (due to their size and for your convenience). Once unzipped you will find all of the mp3 files for your audiobook named, and in correct file order.  Due to the way Apple has designed iOS, iPhones and iPads don’t recognise these zip files automatically (unlike Android devices).  So, if you buy one of our titles via your iPhone or iPad, there are two ways to find and listen to your files:

[1] Download for FREE iZip for iOS – then download the audiobook using the link provided either on the webpage or the email we sent you. After the file has downloaded click on the Open With option and choose iZip. The app will open and ask if you want it to unzip all the files, say yes. A minute or so later you will have a list of mp3 files in order, and you just need to tap on the one you want to play and it will start playing in the Audioplayer. You can easily play, pause, jump forward or back.

[2] Slightly easier – download the zip file to your PC or MAC, unzip it to a folder you know the location of (such as your Music or Documents folder), then use iTunes to transfer the files in the same way you would a music album.

We hope you enjoy your audiobook and come back for more soon!
